“Even as we continue to expand today, we always keep sight on our markets, customer needs and advantages we provide that some of our competitors can’t” explains Frump. “Many of our competitors can only produce casings in a set variety of colors and sizes, whereas we pride ourselves on providing our customers with a highly customized product portfolio.”

“In the future, the company will continue to innovate and develop new products for the food industry, while developing other applications which could include new channels and types of collagen-based products.” says Frump.

Nitta Casings Inc.’s President and CEO, J. Ronald Frump, was interviewed in March 2010 issue of American Executive.

Despite Nitta Casings’ history of leadership in the industry, there were significant challenges last year. “A focus on cost cutting, headcount reductions, and entry into some unprofitable international markets meant our business could not handle the loss of a major customer; escalating material, labor, and benefit costs; and an out-of-control recession very well,” said Frump.

In less than a year, however, things have turned around. Frump reports the company is now showing a profit, experiencing sales increases, and has the potential for expansion into many new markets.
